Wendy Bailey teaches at the Cesar Chavez Public Charter High School for Public Policy, where she engages DC youth through literature, composition, and public policy exploration. She also helps empower students through a number of extracurricular activities she organizes, including an environmental awareness/outdoor recreation club, an integrated peace studies program, and a spoken word group. Prior to the Chavez School, Wendy taught interdisciplinary, social justicecentered intensives at an experiential, community-involved charter school in Denver. Wendy has extensive experience in the outdoors, working with Outward Bound in Minnesota, a mountainbased Boys & Girls Club in Colorado, the Student Conservation Association in D.C., and guiding as a Senior Field Instructor for a wilderness therapy program in southern Utah. Her formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from Indiana University, and completion of a humanities program at the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. |
