Mo Alem
Mouhamad "Mo" Alem is a DC-based Arab-American grassroots activist who has been organizing around progressive causes for the past ten years. Mo has helped organize grassroot and worker’s union opposition and alternative initiatives to counter militarism, corporate greed and corruption in the Arab world, Europe and the United States while focusing on engaging the media in an effort to build awareness. His focus lies in building capacity, infrastructure and cooperation within the progressive movement while supporting the creation of innovative forms of media outreach that allow for the dissemination of messaging over traditionally unfriendly mediums. Mo's work with the DC Media Collective has led to a number of successful debates and interviews on numerous news outlets, including Fox News and CNN, where he was able to articulate and defend progressive ideals, thereby reaching a wide spectrum of traditionally unreachable viewers. He is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and professionally serves as the IT Coordinator for Co-op America.
