Michael Lewis combines a background in medicine, holistic health, yoga and stress management with a twenty-year study of history. Until recently, and for many years, he also owned and operated “Paper Treasures,” a used & rare bookstore in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley in which he established a multimedia computing center to facilitate youth independent media projects. The 2003 invasion of Iraq inspired Michael to actively seek out and join the progressive grassroots community in Washington DC, which he has served in a number of capacities, such as videography, yoga workshop instruction, skills training, and document editing. Born and raised in West Virginia, he brings a passion for living, loving and cherishing the earth and her people to his work, which has carried him across America and Europe since 1971. In addition to his work with the Collective, Michael organizes rural Virginian youth pursuing independent media activism.
